TextAloud users often ask us how to play a text to speech audio stream through the microphone of another application like Zoom, the popular video chat software. For example, a voice-impaired user might find they can more actively participate in a Zoom call by using TextAloud to create high quality synthesized voice audio rather then being relegated to only typing.
This use can be accomplished through using Virtual Audio Cable software to create a virtual link, allowing one application (TextAloud) to send an audio stream to the input side of a "virtual cable" while a corresponding application (for example, Zoom) can receive this stream from the output side.
The Virtual Audio Cable software for Windows PCs that we recommend for this is VB-Cable from VB-AUDIO SOFTWARE. VB-Cable is donationware, which means the application is free to use, with all functions available, but if you find it useful you are expected to pay VB-Audio for your license by making a donation at https://vb-audio.com/Services/licensing.htm.
You can download a zip file for VB-Cable at:
https://vb-audio.com/Cable/
Unzip the download, and run either the 32 bit or 64 bit setup file. Right click the setup file and run it as administrator.
