another bug uncovered

Earlier I reported that sometimes TFM takes the last letter in a sentence and
pronounces it, as if that letter were a new sentence. The bug I have just
diiscovered may be related. It is that TFM sometimes fails to recognize
the first letter of a sentence. For example a sentence starting with
"Don't count on me" is pronounced as if the first word were "on't"
I have only noticed this happening when the first character is at the left
margin, but that just be a coincidence. Naturally this bug only shows up
sporadically.

I had that problem. Sort of fixed it by lowering the speed. Try that

I would tend to ask "At what speed do they have it set at?"
