I am having the problem listed below

Custom Dictionary Entries

Text matching \b(\d+):(\d+)-(\d+)\b
Pronounce Using chapter $1verse $2 {{pause=.5}} to $3

Text matching \b(\d+):(\d+)\b
Pronounce Using chapter $1verse $2 {{pause=1.0}}

Sample Verses: The following will pronounce fine when tested using the Dictionary text function
The first two entries are fine.

Sample text John 5:18
Pronounces John Chapter 5 Verse 18

Sample text John 5: 20 - 28
Pronounces John Chapter 5 Verse 20 to 28

Sample text Jhn 5:18
Pronounces John Chapter 5 v-e-r-s-e one eight

Sample text Jhn: 20 -28
Pronounces John Chapter 20 v-e-r-s-e two zero to two eight

The same problem occurs when the scripture is 1 Cor 5:2. I have a dollar sign at the beginning of the pronounce using line following entries listed above.

One possible problem is with spacing in your Pronounce Using. For the two dictionary entries try changing like this:

Old:
Pronounce Using chapter $1verse $2 {{pause=.5}} to $3
Pronounce Using chapter $1verse $2 {{pause=1.0}}

New:
Pronounce Using chapter $1 verse $2 {{pause=.5}} to $3
Pronounce Using chapter $1 verse $2 {{pause=1.0}}}

So see if adding a space between $1 and verse helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried that already. Each time I close the dictionary the space is deleted and it shows as I have shown it above.

Thanks

Further to thread above, I forgot to mention that the above worked fine on my old computer and the problem only seems to have occurred since I upgraded the new computer to windows 10.

Thanks

There is a very good chance this problem depends on the voice you're using. So if you upgraded to Windows 10, and are now using one of the Windows 10 default voices, that may be what has caused the problem. If I use Microsoft David to speak the text "chapter 5verse 23" I see exactly the problem you're describing. Other voices speak the text correctly, so it seems to be voice dependent.

I don't understand why you're not able to edit the dictionary entry though. Are you saying that if you edit the entry, add a space, close the pronunciation dictionary maintenance window, and edit the entry again, the space is gone? Are you able to add new dictionary entries?

Thanks, the problem was with the voice. It works just fine with Mike. Yes I can add new dictionary entries. Thanks again.
