How do I get TextAloud to skip a specific section of text?

Dear experts
I apologies if this is not placed correct. I would like to know how to get TextAloud to skip over text in brackets. I use program for reading over my work so I make sure I don't read my own mistakes, so I work off both orthographic and phonological process rather than simply one. When I write, I have a lot of references throughout my work, so I want to be able to plug and play rather than having to start and stop.
How do I get TextAloud to not skip over this text, but (skip over this text)?
