Can I make my gmail account talk, using TextAloud?

Dear All,

I recently acquired a license for TA.

I have a gmail account – can I incorporate TextAloud in it, or otherwise use mp3 voice notification, created with TA, so that gmail lets me know a new email has arrived by saying it out loud?

Kind Regards,
vd

Hi vd,

This type of integration with gmail is currently not available in TextAloud. I logged it in our list of features to look at for future versions.

Dear Jim,

Thank you for your answer.

I think I have found a way to implement this:

1. First, write down the text message of the notification: 'You have got mail' or 'New mail has arrived', or whatever else one might like.
2. Then record a wav file from the text with TextAloud's help and export it.
3. Download and install Gmail Notifier.
4. Select Control Panel from the Windows Start menu.
5. Choose Sounds and Audio Devices. If you can't see this item, click Switch to Classic View in the left pane.
6. Go to the Sounds tab.
7. Select the desired sound for New Mail Notification.
8. To disable audio notification, choose (none).
9. Click OK.

Since Gmail Notifier uses the default windows new mail event notification, the sound you choose for Gmail is also what you will hear when new mail arrives in Outlook Express or Outlook, for example.

And that is it – enjoy!

Great idea!

You could also probably record a wav file from TextAloud and replace the default windows sound with your TextAloud audio file. I think it has to be wav file, and not an mp3.

Yes, that was what I meant! I have added the step above!
