Importing dictionaries

Post by tytrate »

TA Beta 3-71. Am I able to import an existing dictionary. If yes, is there anyone "out there" who would like to share their dictionaries?

Thanks

There is no import/export built into pronunciation dictionary maintenance yet, but you can currently use other dictionary files by copying them into the Dictionaries folder. (To find the folder, click Help -> Open Data Folder from the TextAloud menu). Just copy the new dictionary file into the Dictionaries folder and you should be able to use it.

Hi Jim,

In the future, will it be possible to import other dictionaries, e.g. MS Word?

Thanks.

Are you referring to spell check dictionaries? If so, we do plan to allow spell check dictionaries from other applications, like MS Word, to be used with the TextAloud spell check feature. Don't know when this will be ready but it should be available in a build sometime soon.

Let me know if you meant something different.
