Some update-suggestions

Postby Melker63 » Sat Jan 20, 2007 7:30 am

1: Copied texts still often requires a fair amount of manual pre-editing in 'TextAloud' before hitting the 'Speak text to file' button. For example:

- Paragraph-headings often tends to merge with the bulk of the text. Better paragraph-heading recognition is needed - preferebly with optional auto-insert [Caption Pause Interval] directly before and after.

- No easy/fast way to get rid of sequential page-numbering by using Replace, as far as I know. Or alternatively: any reasonably short number centered and alone on a rove could be identified as page-number; converted to:

[Paragraph Pause Interval] page [number] [Paragraph Pause Interval]

2: A rightclick "Insert beep-sound" would be nice. This sometimes comes in handy in order to alert the listener (me) to pay special attention - here comes that important part.

Come to think of it - I just want above. The rest is not needed since the page number read-outs comes at the end of the page - not the beginning, which would have maked more sense.

Perhaps, the following quote from the latest Jim’s post can help on that

Jim Bretti wrote:Give this regular expression a try:

Word:
{{re=\s*(\r\n)+p\. \d+\s*(\r\n)+}}

Pronunciation:
<s>

\s* is allowing for spaces that might be present, and (\r\n)+ is looking for one or more carriage return/linefeeds. The string "p\. d+" is the page number.

Thanks! By the way: then I said "the rest is not needed" I was only refeering to the page-number readout. Better paragraph-heading separation (with pause) and that rightclick 'Insert beeb-sound" idea is still on my wishlist. :wink:

Looks quite possible during live playback in TextAloud.

Just copy the following tag

{{audio=c:\path_to_your_beep_file\beep.wav}}

to the clipboard and then insert this tag where needed - just right-click in TextAloud's window and select "Paste".

If you have Acapela voice(s) I'd recommend giving a try to using the word hmm for the beep - it sounds cool.

I like that audio tag...I could do a lot with it. But is there a way to make it play into an MP3 file? When I try Speak To File it reads the letters of the command...it doesn't add the sound in the WAV to the rest of the MP3'd text.

If not mistaken, audio tags are only supported during live playback in TextAloud. However, it seems quite possible to convert audio-tagged articles to MP3 by using some recording software (e.g., Total Recorder) capable of recording sound reproduced by other programs.
