We don't yet have a product for PocketPC, but we've been talking to another company that has one. They use neospeech voices. There isn't a downloadable trial, but if anyone has been itching for something on PocketPC I'd love to hear what you think of this one

It is an affiliate link into purchasing their product. If anyone does buy it, and then we eventually get TextAloud on PPC, we'd give that one to you free.

I’ve played some with NeoSpeech Paul’s voice for Pocket PC and it does sound very, very decent. I had troubled Support Team at digitalfuturesoft.com with several questions and they were kind enough to explain things to me. Below is the interview:

Q1. Your program is bundled with NeoSpeech voices in 16 and 32
MB formats. Am I right in thinking that the file format indicates the
size of the speech-base file and not the size of the installation file?

A1. This is correct. Please note that only 1 NeoSpeech voice (16MB or 32
MB)can reside on the device. We have another partner through which you
could add up to 20 voices.

Q2. Do you sell voices of different formats as separate products?

A2. Once you purchase, you get both formats but see limitations in answer 1.

Q3. Which sample rate 16/32-format commercial versions use?

A3. The rate is 16kHz.

Q4. Have got the impression that wave audio samples of PocketPC
NeoSpeech voices were recorded using their desktop versions, and
not the handheld versions you sell. Any chance to listen to
WAV demo samples made with 16/32 MB handheld NeoSpeech voices?

A4. This is correct. We do not have Pocket PC version demos per licensing
issues. As you noticed from the demo, the quality is slightly worse
than the desktop versions due to the decreased voice file size. The 32MB
version has a better audio and speech quality than the 16MB version.

Q5. Your programs with Paul and Kate are separate products. Would it be possible
to switch between Paul and Kate if both programs were installed simultaneously?

A5. You can only have 1 voice installed at a time (NeoSPeech
engine limitation) but you could subsequently add up to 20 voices from
Cepstral

Q6. Which voices can be used with your program for PocketPC?

A6. We support NeoSpeech and Cepstral. We will consider other vendors in
the future.

Q7. Could you please comment on your upgrade policy?

A7. Minor version upgrades are free (fixes, improvements, etc.). Major
version upgrades will be offered at a significant discount (up to 50%).
Buying a PPC version enables you to get a discounted Smartphone version
and vice versa.
