Ebook + Ipod Shuffle, Split them & Speak Out File Number

Postby chrisleeuk » Thu Sep 01, 2005 6:07 am

I use textaloud mainly for listening to e-books on my ipod shuffle.

Just a thought, would it be possible to add a short sentence to the start of each file when splitting?

For example it would be nice when I split an e-book into 20 parts for the start of the file to contain something like this:

<voice required="name = Mike16">Sherlock Holmes Part 2.<voice required="name = Crystal16">REST OF EBOOK FILE etc.

This will make the Voice change to Mike to read the e-book Title and Part number out, then the ebook continues in the Crystal Voice.

The reason I ask for this is that the shuffle does not have a display, so it would be nice to know which part I am up to 'vocally'

I've written my own little utility to do this for now, but obviously it would be nice if this was integrated into TextAloud itself. :D

Anyway just a quick thought.

Thanks for passing along the suggestion, sounds like this would be useful for devices that don't have displays. We'll add it to our list of enhancements.

iPod shuffle announcing

Postby jnuttallphd » Fri Sep 23, 2005 11:14 am

Hello Jim:
Thanks for considering announcing files for an enhancement. With my low vision I am unable to read the screen on MP3 players. So I figure I might as well buy an iPod shuffle since I don't have to worry about a screen anyway. But I am looking for easy way to identify the files that I am reading
