Windows 7 (reinstall) and TextAloud

Post by Jessica2 »

I've been forced to ditch Win10 because of performance issues on one of my machines.

Reinstall of Win 7 .. DONE! - {SP2 plus all updates till now}
.. Also: I've got .NET 3.5 installed on the windows 7 machine.

Reinstall of Antivirus, .. DONE! - {AVG - Free}
Reinstall of Voice, .. DONE! - {IVONA - Amy}
Install of TextAloud, .. NOT - DONE! {latest ver.}

Got this, ..
---------------------------
Error
---------------------------
The following problem was detected with your TextAloud install:

Interface IQLMLicense error:
Class not registered, ClassID: {6A36E934-D6F6-4DEB-872B-2B36771AEF89}.

Reinstalling TextAloud will normally fix this error

Please contact support@nextup.com for help with this problem.

From searching the forums, apart from something in 2007 then there hasn't been a sight or sound of it since.

Reinstalling does nothing, other than create the same error.

Anyone any ideas? - Flummoxed, ..

Cracked it, but was it ever a fiddle.

And I don't reckon anyone will ever need this, but here goes, ..

Windows 7 comes with .NET 3.5 and it looks like (TextAloud wants 4.x)

The online update *doesn't* work with some *paged* -- versions of -- windows 7), and I have no idea what that means, nor what the error meant: with even the windows web site offering no explanation. You have to use the **offline** updating tool, link provided.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... or-windows

ALSO, when updating the above, *AND* TextAloud, .. your'e antivirus must be **OFF** - and that's completely and utterly, with uninstalled being the default position on getting TextAloud back onto this antiquated platform.

I had to do it, cos Win 10 on this hardware was like driving through molasses with flat tyres, and no fuel in the engine, and that was just booting up, .. it got so bad: that I could actually see the file-manager window being painted on the screen.

I've got a ASUS X453MA with a mere 2 gig of ram and a Intel Celeron N2840 / 2.16 GHz Max Turbo Speed 2.58 GHz Processor.

It used to be fine, but with the win update 1709 and finally 1803, it became the nail in the coffin where this machine was concerned, but I hate waste, and I was blowed if I was gonna throw it away cos Microsoft can't get it right , .. and it's got a LOVELY keyboard ..

Anyway, .. should anyone see that error: then this is how to fix it.

Thanks for reading, Jessica: Praise be the ORI.
