How to close an article

Post by Mark_TA »

Hello,

I'm new with TA 3.0.45 and I have four articles open.

Now I want to close two of them but unfortunately I didn't find "close".

What do I wrong?

Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,

There is currently not a way to Close articles. We use archiving instead of a close function, so the idea is to delete your articles, and let TextAloud archive them. When you delete an article use the Unarchive function under the TA File menu to pull the article back.

Let me know if that doesn't help.

Hi Jim,

that's an interessting way for unloading a file.

I thought that in TA is a function like "Close" as in MS Word or MS Excel, if I don't need that anymore.
Mybe I want to put that file onto a external harddrive, because I have now the MP3 files for the car.

Do you understand, what I mean?

Best regards,
Mark

Additional information.
I opend a doc-file and have it deleted. But it isn't in the archiv.
Is that correct? Sorry.

I think I understand what you mean. Once you have created an mp3, you no longer have any need for the text file ... that is why we chose to implement delete, with archive and unarchive support, rather than close article / open article functionality. You can configure the archive retention on the Article Options panel (Tools -> TextAloud Options -> Article Options).

Let me know if the archiving feature does not work for you, we could look at implementing article close / article open in a future release if needed.
