pronunciation problem with dash - help

Postby JamesW » Thu Jun 03, 2010 11:40 am

I have a text book that splits words using dashes.
Example:
"con-
stantly" <- this is on the next line

And i can't for the life of me figure out how to use' pronunciation dictionary maintenance' feature to fix this issue.

Problem is the voice say "con" then pauses and then say "stantly" of course this gets annoying.

So how do i fix this so it doesn't do the pause when a word is split in two using a dash ?

James,

How does the text appear in TextAloud?

Is it: "Con-stantly" all on one line?

or is it appearing as two line?

"Con-
stantly"

Let me know and I'll make a regular expression that should help.

Try this:

Create a new dictionary entry. Specify Text Matching as: "Regular Expression" and put this regex in the field: \b(\w+)-[\r\n]+(\w+)\b

Set the Pronounce Using option to "Respell" and put this in the field: $1$2
