Voice recognition anywhere?

Postby TTSAddict » Sun Oct 17, 2004 11:42 pm

Hi. I don't know any other place to ask this at, and you people are into this speech stuff, so I try it here.
I am currently working on a command&control software in Visual Basic6, using the SAPI5 SDK and the TTS engines for audible replies (just for fun, I am a bloody beginner  ) for my own personal use.
It is usable to some degree, but what I really need is a german speech recognition engine. The one that comes with the M$ SAPI package is good, but English only. I tried the same like when you try to let an English voice talk German - German transscript with English pronunciation rules, and trained the engine for weeks. But to no success, so does anybody know where one can get new SAPI recognition engines? Microsoft announced other languages aeons ago, and claims that there are some from other vendors as well. Yeah right.
I tried some big packages like Dragon Naturally speaking and other stuff, but none of these engines show up in the system configuration, so that they are usable by all installed SAPI applications (my own in this case).
*Are* there any? Free? Commercial? Doesn't matter, I need one badly.

Greetings
