How can I change word Stress on NeoSpeech Paul ? Thanks!

Postby Tom_Williams » Sun Apr 19, 2009 6:55 pm

Hi all, my question refers to NeoSpeech Paul voice -

There are words with a stress at the Beginning of the word, like -

Elephant, Monkey, Picture, Dolphin, Desktop, Bookmark. Airplane.....

and there are words with a stress at the End of the word, like -

Avocado, Computers, Aligators.....

How can I change the stress of words in my text? for example if I want that the application will read one time Gaga, with stress at the start, and then Gaga, with stress at the end, how can I control it?

I'm using "TTSApp.exe" located in the "\Paul\M16-SAPI5\lib" folder, and I can also see "UserDicEng.exe" in the same folder which I have no idea how to use....

Thanks!
Tom.

Unfortunately while SAPI has some functionality to let you adjust the emphasis, it turns out the good voices all pretty much ignore it. While the better voices get it right most of the time, there isn't much of a good way to adjust it. You can try out the emphasis tags. There is a bit of documentation on it in the advanced SAPI5 stuff at

Where should I put it ?

Postby Tom_Williams » Mon Apr 20, 2009 2:53 pm

Hi,

I tried some examples, like for example -

<rate>
This text should be spoken at rate five.
<rate>
This text should be spoken at rate zero.
</rate>
</rate>

I copied it into the reading text box, but when I do that it's just reading it ALL as a one long regular text, including the commands itself.....

Any solution?

Thanks!

<volume>

<volume>
This text should be spoken at volume level one hundred.

Very strange.....

When I post the message it omitted the values that I wrote in the commands..... I thought that it was my mistake on the first post but now I see that it's just deleting the numbers from the message, very strange....

Use the code tags

Example:
Code: Select all
<rate abspeed="2"/>
in your posting window to keep your code in tact. That way, the board knows you're posting a sample and not attempting to tamper with it.
