Other voices for TexALoud

Postby sncdoc » Mon Jul 23, 2012 11:24 am

I just purchased TextALoud solely to get program that would convert text to mp3 files *and not have to use the notorious Microsoft Annie*.

I am using Windows 7, 64 bit and now find that I can't get any of the "free" voices to install, even after installing the SAPI4. Before I spend more bucks to buy one of the other voices, is there any assurance that they will work with the TextALoud program.

Anything others can suggest something for me to make sure the voices would work?

I use a Win7/64Bit system at home and have many TA premium voices installed, all of which work perfectly. They include:

Acapela Heather, Rachel & Tyler

ScanSoft Fiona, Lee, Karen, Moira and Serena.

Heather is the only US English voice; The rest are Australian, English, Irish or Scottish. All are great, though.

Thanks, I bought the AT&T voices based on your assurances that premium voices would work, *and they do work*! Thanks for the information.

Actually, as I mentioned in my post, I use the Acapela voices, not the ATT -- although I have use ATT in the past, but abandoned them some years ago as the Acapela and ScanSoft voices are higher quality IMO, however the ATT voices are still pretty good.

Glad it's working for you.

Make sure SAPI 4 voices are enabled. Go to Tools, Voice Options, and make sure that under SAPI Version it has Use Both selected. The version 4 voices should then be available to you.

Thanks Michael! I did find that option and now all voices are available. Thanks to all who responded.
