"Step to previous Line" Shortcut error

Postby percr01 » Wed Aug 11, 2010 10:43 pm

Hello Team.-

I configured this shortcut and when it is used the previuos line is re-read but TextAloud no continue reading the other lines and It doesn't work anymore (included the add-ons). The only option to work again with TextAloud is restarting it (close/start)

I am using build 164 - Windows XP

Just for you information this problem no happens with "Skip to Previous Line"

Additionally:

1) Could you please let me know the difference between these two shortcuts?
2) is there anyway to use these shortcuts as HotKeys? The idea is to have some of these shortcuts into the add-ons

Best Regards

Hello Team.-

Sounds like that this problem happens with any "Step ....." shortcut.

I tested "Step to Next Line" and the same problem as the other shortcut.

Additionally this problem happens is we use the "Navigation -> Step Navigations" menu.

Please don't forget to answer my two previous questions. :P

Whats happening is that step navigations cause TextAloud to pause after the item is spoken. So in your case the previous line is read, and then TextAloud pauses. At that point, you can either 'step' again, or click 'Resume' to continue speaking. So the idea is to allow you to read something a sentence or word at a time, pausing as each sentence / word is finished speaking.

You probably want to use the Skip functions, which allow you to move around in the text without the pauses.

The step and skip functions currently work in TextAloud articles only, they do not work in add-ons.

Does that help?

Hello Jim.-

Many thanks for your quick answer. I understand the idea of "Step ...." shortcuts

Testing this functionability I find other error with the following message:

Access violation at address 0085BA80 in module 'TextAloudMP3.exe'. Read of address 00000038.

Easy to replicate:

1) Load any article
2) Navigation - Step to next line
3) Wait until read the line and stop the reading
4) Click Stop button
5) Click Resume button
6) The error is showed

Thanks for catching that. The bug will be fixed in the next build.
