If it got awesome reviews I'd buy it at that price. It seems like it's reviews are marginal. Those shaded areas near the spine are a large issue. I scan hard bound texts but my Canon 8400f does pretty well with finereader 7.0 on curved (spine area) text. Making audio books is, in reality, a nightmare and anything that would make it easier is an investment worth considering. My books all come from the library and removing the spine is out of the question.
