Re: Removing/muting in-text references from tech document

Thank you for the regex, which works great. And thank you even more for the link to the regular expressions website with tutorials. I was not aware of the power of regex, but now I can see many possibilities for use in my TTS documents. Muting all those references makes the audio text so much easier...

Removing/muting in-text references from tech document

I have converted a .pdf medical tech document into a .txt document so I can use TTS and make an audio file. Problem is, there are so many in-text references that the audio file is not natural sounding. For example; "any text here... (Katz, 2013)" For the audio file, I really don't want to ...

Re: How to convert phonetic spelling into SAPI 5 Phonemes?

Thanks for the suggestion of the phoneme helper dialog in TextAloud. I have not used it, yet. But it might come in handy. Currently, with Tagalog, I am having decent success with entering the phonemes directly. Over the past week, I have become aware of a number of patterns in the language and how t...

Re: How to convert phonetic spelling into SAPI 5 Phonemes?

Working on matching up the symbols from one system list to the other, to make a combined list. Should help with future pronunciation changes with the phoneme helper. Thanks for all the help and links.

Re: How to convert phonetic spelling into SAPI 5 Phonemes?

Thank you. That fixed it. I was pretty close with: (t ah - g aa 1 - l ao g) but it did not sound quite right. Changing the ah to ax to (t ax - g aa 1 l ao g) was what I was looking for. You nailed it. You stated that "The mapping from IPA to SAPI 5 is very straightforward." Is there such a...

How to convert phonetic spelling into SAPI 5 Phonemes?

I am now using TA 3.0 in Windows 8.1 with MS David voice. I wanted it so say "Tagalog" in one passage, but MS David (and all my other English voices) mispronounces it as "Tag a log" which is nowhere near close to the correct pronunciation. I tried to correct the word in the user ...

Re: Tagalog/Filipino SAPI5 Voice

I am hardly an expert in Tagalog, just learning the language on my own. Having said that, many words in Tagalog are pronounced exactly as spelled. So, Hagupit in that link sounds correct to me - with my limited knowledge of Tagalog. The reason I was looking for a Tagalog voice was because I was spen...

Thanks for the help. I'll be looking more online about that phoneme list for Graham. Take care.

Re: Tagalog/Filipino SAPI5 Voice

Thanks for the response. Yes, I was trying to use the same US English phoneme set as in your link. Results were not very good. As you mentioned, the US English phoneme set is limited. Do you have a link to the Acapela UK English phoneme set you use so I can compare that list to the US English phonem...

Tagalog/Filipino SAPI5 Voice

I am looking for a SAPI5 voice for the Tagalog/Filipino language of the Philippines to use in TextAloud. I cannot find any commercial Tagalog voice for sale. Does anybody know if such a voice exists? That would be my first choice. My second choice is to work with an existing non-Tagalog voice and co...

Re: Removing Superscripts/Reference citations

Thank you so much for your help. The last expression you gave me works the best. Text Matching: Regular Expression ([a-z][.?!])(\d+)(,\d+)* Pronounce Using: Respell $1 I ran that expression on my documents and it correctly omits speaking the reference, and multiple reference citations without affect...

Re: Removing Superscripts/Reference citations

Thanks, that worked great for the not speaking single citations as given in my example. "ADHD is characterized by developmentally inappropriate degrees of inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity.3 Before diagnosis, ..." The "3" is not spoken at all. Fantastic. As to tweaking, ...

Removing Superscripts/Reference citations

I want to import professional documents into TextAloud to convert to .mp3 files for listening to while driving. I don't want to have to listen to every reference number cited in the article as it disrupts my thought process while listening. Some of my target articles are heavily referenced and it wo...

Re: firefox toolbar bug in 3.0.26

The TextAloud plugin for FireFox worked great for me back with FireFox v3x. Then, I upgraded to version 4 and it became non functional. To be fair, lots of my FireFox plugins did not work when I upgraded. Now I'm running FireFox v5x and I keep getting asked to upgrade to FireFox v6x....I just so no,...
